OPAL is excited to endorse the following candidates for District 202 School Board!
These candidates will advocate for all students at ETHS but understand the important work needed to
reduce the academic predictability of Black students based on historic and structural racism in the US education system.
I believe in the collective power of the Evanston community. As a current member and Vice-President of the Evanston Township High School (ETHS) District 202 Board of Education, a graduate of Evanston/Skokie public schools, and a parent of an ETHS alumnus, I deeply understand the value of public education. I have watched our community’s ability to stand behind our educators and students to lead our school district through incredible, life-changing work.
I am running for re-election to the District 202 Board of Education because I have seen first hand how our work positively impacts young people, their families, teachers and staff, and the entire community.
Every student single deserves to benefit from the outstanding growth opportunities that abound at ETHS -- but far too often, where we come from predicts who we become.
It doesn’t have to be that way. I believe that when we come together as a community, and when we all have a seat at the table, we all thrive. And when we take a holistic approach to serving our students, we see better outcomes across the board.
My name is Liz Rolewicz, and I’m running for District 202 School Board to serve as a bridge between our community and the board, and to serve and support all our students through their educational experience from childhood through independence. I am running for District 202 Board because I believe the power of public education is only as strong as our commitment to equity and excellence for all students. From the first day of kindergarten to the last day of high school, every child in Evanston deserves access to the best opportunities and education that we, as a community, can provide.
ETHS exemplifies this commitment to our young people in its core mission: “Embracing its diversity, ETHS is committed to educating all of its students to their maximum potential.” Working together, we can nurture academic achievement and enrichment opportunities for all of our students. This is my motivation. This is what inspires me to run for 202.
